Job Description

Purpose of position:

The Foodservice Area Sales Manager will be responsible for the development of sales of Foster Farms products within a defined geographic location. This position will be responsible for growing sales, developing and maintaining customer relationships, in assigned segments of the industry. These segments would include Education (K12, College & University, Military and Industrial).

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Sell Operator accounts within assigned segment independent of Foster Farms Sales Personnel or Distributor sales representatives and establish sales strategies with accounts.
  2. Work with Distributor Sales Representative/Segment Specialists in assigned segment to reach key critical customers.
  3. Plan and prepare weekly sales call, sample needs, appointment setting, C4C updates and entry.
  4. Assist Regional Sales Manager with customer facing activities and sales functions (cuttings, market blitzes, etc) as assigned by Regional Sales Manager.
  5. Participate at Sales meeting, trainings, sessions, shows at the customers and distributor level as it pertains to assigned industry segment.

Additional Functions:

  1. This position is expected to develop customer relationships in the assigned channels to sell product in support of Foster Farms priorities. Utilizing assigned channel contacts, DSR Contacts when required, and industry contacts will be critical to individual success of this position.
  2. Execute promotional, business and sales strategies as assigned by supervisor.
  3. Achieve and exceed sales and budgeted volumes within assigned territory while properly managing trade spending, expenses budgets to achieve profitable results.
  4. Effective utilization of internal tools (SDS, C4C, Interflex, BA, etc.) will be critical to individual success in this position

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field

2. Must have minimum of five (5) years sales experience in the Foodservice Industry

3. This position must have prior knowledge and a clear understanding of the supply chain flow in the foodservice industry for the channel assigned. This knowledge is critical in getting Foster Farms products from our warehouse to the end user.

4. Must have computer/software knowledge and maintain accurate and timely information within CRM platform

5. Must be comfortable speaking in public and be willing and able to handle confrontation and objections

6. Strong oral and written communications skills

7. Ability to identify, plan, organize and execute selling activity at the Foodservice operator level to achieve growth and profit objectives

8. Must have reliable transportation and have the ability to obtain valid CA Drivers License and reliable transportation for business travel

9. Ability to travel overnight if required

10. Consistent, reliable attendance and the ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment

11. Must be able to able to lift up to 50lbs periodically
