Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position ensures that all Foster Poultry Farms’ and subsidiaries’ California divisions comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to all vehicle operators, transportation equipment and permissible operations in California by providing best practices, training and audits to vehicle operators and management. The positions improves company safety and reduces potential liability by providing recommendations and guidance to front line management on policy, safety, and compliance programs. This person develops and implements specific programs designed to enforce compliance, promote safety, ensure only qualified individuals operate vehicles and reduce accidents. This position conducts investigations and coordinates line management responses to accidents, citations, and inspections involving vehicle operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Ensure that Foster Farms vehicles, permits, records, processes and drivers meet or exceed regulatory compliance at every level of government, liaison during inspections.

Review all in-cab camera events, classify each potentially unsafe driving behavior and provide recommendations to the drivers manager/supervisor.

Conduct and compose defensive driving course and other safety related training for all Foster Farms Professional drivers.

Manage and augment the powered industrial equipment program.

Ensure that all prospective driver applicants are road tested to meet or exceed Foster Farms and governmental standards.

Conduct accident investigations to identify causes, determine liability and recommend corrective actions.

Additional Functions:

Assist the manager and department by completing additional safety, contingency or departmental assignments.

Respond to emergency incidents involving the corporation and shareholders 24 hours / 7 days a week.

Represent the company in select trade and industry associations.


Qualifications

Requirements:

Commercial Driver’s License “A” required

Specialized Knowledge in: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, California Highway Patrol BIT inspection procedures, operation of commercial motor vehicles, operation of powered industrial equipment, and accident investigation procedures.

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Driver supervisory experience preferred

3-5 years of experience as a trainer or teacher.

Proficient in Microsoft application (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc.).

Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups

Able to work with little to no supervision.

Must be able to travel out of the area extensively.
