Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Position is responsible for day-to-day management of product lines within the Prepared Foods marketing channel. Assigned product lines include Frozen Cooked Chicken, Refrigerated Cooked Chicken and Sausage. Responsible for annual sales in excess of $200MM annually.

Manage all facets of assigned product lines to achieve monthly, annual and long term plan goals. Participate in overall marketing team projects to achieve business line monthly, annual and long term goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for overall business management of retail frozen cooked, refrigerated cooked and sausage product lines. Participate in the development and execution of marketing objectives, strategies, and tactics for these assigned product lines.

Develop and execute the communications plan, including the brand positioning and all elements of the marketing mix (package design, advertising, consumer and trade promotion, public relations, etc.). Ensure that all communications effectively builds brand imagery and equity. Conduct research as necessary to better understand consumer attitudes and usage patterns and to identify opportunities.

Optimize the marketing mix to deliver the profit objectives. Set the consumer and trade budgets, recommend pricing actions, and manage the P & L of the assigned product lines

Manage the development, implementation, and assessment of consumer promotions for the assigned product lines. Work with trade management team to optimize effectiveness of trade promotions and provide guidance to sales.

Coordinate activities of internal functions such as R & D, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Finance/Accounting as well as external resources such as agencies, consultants, research suppliers, co-packers, printers, etc.

In conjunction with category management team commission and participate in development of business analyses using IRI and other sources to evaluate category, brand, competition, market performance, distribution, promotion effectiveness, pricing, etc. Identify opportunities and threats and adjust plan as necessary.

Identify, develop, and launch product line extensions.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in related major required, MBA preferred

Minimum 3-5 years CPG/Food marketing experience, frozen food experience preferred, both consumer and trade marketing experience a must.

Leadership mentality, must be product line owner/champion within the organization

Excellent project management skills, ability to work cross-functionally across departments

Strong financial and quantitative analytical skills

Ability to participate in strategic and annual planning

Familiarity with syndicated data

Strong communication skills including written and verbal presentation

Experience directing creative assignments
