Job Description

Purpose of position:
Support Operations and Financial management to achieve their stated objectives by providing analytical reports of performance and maintaining an accurate general ledger close. The close process includes completing assigned journal entries, researching unusual account balances, completion and distribution of final reports to management. Provide management with weekly estimates of performance and cost. Assist with preparation of Plant and Live operating budgets.

Essential Job Functions:
Preparation of all daily and weekly performance reports including meat yields and labor efficiency reports and weekly P&L’s for management.

Research questions from management regarding weekly variances.

Accounting Close

Preparation of journal entries for period and year-end close and preparation of Accounts Payable accruals.

Prepare and explain period-end variances and comparative reports.

Prepare account analysis worksheets and take corrective action to resolve any issues resulting from their preparation.

Special projects and other support, prepare, review and assist management with bill of materials.

Prepare and works with operations on new product cost estimates.

Assist in taking of physical inventories on product and materials.

Assist in preparing annual budgets.

Develop and update detailed desk procedures for all recurring job tasks.

Additional Functions:

Develop, analyze and provide management with appropriate analysis which reveals and defines problems that can be acted upon by management to reduce cost, gain efficiencies, and redirect efforts.

Assist operations management and Supervisor/Manager in special assignments as needed.

Back-up staff when necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
B.S. degree in accounting or related field.

One-three years accounting experience

Computer skills- SAP, OP, Clear Access, Word, Excel, Access 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must have the ability to understand complex costing models.

Be a self-starter, detail-oriented, well organized, with the ability to multi-task.

Have the ability to work within strict time frames and prioritize in order to meet deadlines.

Preferred Requirements:
Two-four years plant accounting experience.

Analytical ability and experience

Physical Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation.

Must be able to have consistent attendance.

Must be able to sit for long periods.

Must be able to work on the computer for long periods of time
