Job Description

Purpose of Position:

The FSQA Compliance Manager is a key leadership position that spans responsibility for overseeing Corporate Supplier and Co-Packer food safety and quality, auditing internal and external food manufacturing sites to measure compliance with FF policies and programs, identifying the key risk attributes for each manufacturing site and working with local operations and QA managers on initiatives for reducing risk, as well as overseeing implementation and maintenance of all FSQA data systems (e.g. – SAP/Q.M., LIMS, Arriba SIPM). The latter role places responsibility on this individual for providing FSQA data systems leadership, support, and training to the manufacturing facilities and executive team by identifying key opportunities and reporting systems to improve food safety, product quality and regulatory compliance. This includes managing customer and consumer complaints, leading IT systems implementation, and managing the use of current technologies. The manager is responsible for the reporting and analysis of key FSQA metrics and for maintaining corporate FSQA programs. Additionally, this individual is responsible for the development of an internal FSQA compliance program and a corporate supplier / co-packer approval and accountability program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Develop a supplier and co-packer program to include risk assessment matrix, approval criteria, and audit requirements to reduce the risk of packaging materials and ingredients.

Develop an internal FSQA compliance program to encompass auditing of corporate programs at all processing facilities to verify standard program implementation and drive consistency and universalization of corporate programs.

Responsible for corporate analysis and reporting of FSQA data and metrics including consumer complaints, customer grievances, internal food safety and quality monitoring data, and pathogen testing results.

Identify and lead all IT related FSQA projects including QM, LIMS/STAR, Torch, Ariba, Sample 6, and other SAP tools. Serve as business lead and liaison for existing projects, such as QM, to ensure implementation at all processing facilities.

Maintain corporate programs such as the corporate quality policy, quality attributes, recall program, and the net weight program for all processing facilities. This will/may include training of FSQA technical staff

Identify and lead corporate continuous improvement initiatives.

Function as the primary internal resource for third party audit certification including GFSI auditing standard and customer specific audits.

Additional Functions:

Lead and participate in GAP analysis audits at the corporate level and specific processing facilities.

Maintain and verify the effectiveness of the corporate information retention program.

Provide corporate training for HACCP, internal auditing, and other FSQA subject matter.

Manage all aspects of a Product Recall.

Quality Management Systems - SAP Project development, implementation, and maintenance.

Ariba SIPM Systems – development, implementation and maintenance.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Meat Science or related field with at least 5 years of experience. Preferred MBA or MS in Food Science, Food Safety, Meat Science or related field.

Understanding of Process capability and the application of Process control/Quality control within those processes. Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification is preferred.

Management and facilitation of cross-functional teams.

Strong aptitude for data analysis and information reporting.

Ability to communicate to all members of the organization and the ability to create standardized methods and approaches for project management processes. Advise executive teams on progress, problem-solving, solution development, identification and measurement of performance targets, plan development and data analysis

Prior department management experience is preferred.

Problem solving skills and team management skills.

Ability to independently manage projects and ensure follow-up and completion.

Possess good interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills.

Technical knowledge of food quality/safety procedures and programs, regulatory requirements, microbial hazards, HACCP program development, microbiological laboratory procedures, sanitation procedures and plant operations.

Working knowledge of GFSI certification standards

Functions at an autonomous level with minimal supervision.

Travel approximately 30% of the time
