Job Description
Troubleshoot, maintain and train department personnel in the operation and upkeep of plant forklift, pallet jacks and personnel lifting equipment
Conduct preventive maintenance and re-build equipment as necessary
Troubleshoot and repair equipment
Insure all material handling equipment is maintained effectively and reliably to ensure proper operation as needed within the production environment in a safe manner
Qualifications
- Must be able to change engine oil combustion engines
- Must be able to properly grease/ hand pack a bearing
- Must be able to assist in equipment overhaul
- Must be able to change and properly tension a V-Belt(s) i.e. alternator and water pump belts
- Must be able to change pallet jack load wheels and also rebuilt rollers as required, including axles
- Must be able to complete lockout/ tag training and then demonstrate how to lockout/ tag out properly
- Must be able to comprehend equipment manuals including basic schematics/diagrams
- Must be able to demonstrate how to use a drill press properly
- Must be able to demonstrate how to use a power drill properly
- Must be able to demonstrate how to use a tap and die set. What size drill bit do you use to drill and tap a ¼-20 bolt.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use a chain breaker, repair a roller chain and how to align properly
- Must be able to fill out a Hot Work Permit and show how to display it
- Must be able to light, properly adjust and make a cut using a cutting torch
- Must be able to make a basic weld on mild steel and on stainless steel
- Must be able to safety secure a piece of equipment that has been raised from ground level
- Must be able to use basic welding/cutting principles
- Must be able to use hand tools properly
- Must have proven knowledge to include theory, operation and troubleshooting of system
- Must have the ability to use basic hand tools
- Must have the knowledge and ability to work safely. Explain the proper PPE to use for a job.
- Must have the knowledge of different types of hydraulic oils and where we use them
- Must maintain a comprehensive PM program
- Must maintain proper hydraulic oil levels
- Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull and crouch
- Must be able to lift over 50 pounds
- Must be able to move, climb and work from ladders safely
- Must be able to work on wet floors, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must pass required test
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and/or times dictated by production requirements/needs
- Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check
