Job Description

Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the area, including, but not limited to: repairing and troubleshooting cage dump systems, auto killing machines, pickers, auto rehangers, automatic processing equipment such as, vent openers, evisceraters, heart and liver harvesters, and gizzard machines, croppers, neck breakers, final control machines, inside/outside bird washers, carcass chillers.Conveyor systems; overhead, belt, chain, auger. Plumbing; air, water, hydraulic. Welding; arc, heli-arc, use cutting torch. Work from blue prints and schematics. Generate work orders, store requisitions, report deficiencies.

Additional functions:

Help maintain and improve quality and food safety, to insure compliance with company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements.

Other duties as assigned:

General cleaning and/or assisting other areas as needed.

Maintain safety, housekeeping, and follow proper sanitary procedures.

Qualifications

1. Must have five years experience in poultry processing maintenance or related field.

2. Must be able to troubleshoot and make “on the spot” corrections to emergency situations.

3. Must be able to weld, arc and heli-arc, and use cutting torch.

4. Must have good written and oral communication skills, in English.

5. Must be self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of supervision.

6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds

7. Must be able to work from ladder, safely.

8. A mechanical test will be administered and utilized to determine the skill level.

9. Must be able to work rotating shifts, and weekends as required

10. Must be willing to cross train in processing maintenance area.

11. Must be able to stand for prolong period of time (8-10 hrs) on a concrete/metal grate floor.
