Job Description

Purpose of position:

To ensure all daily/monthly debits and credits are accurately posted and reconciled in the appropriate general ledger. Will participate in the processing of intercompany transactions, research, and reconciling sales and purchase transactions. This position reports internally to the Tax Manager, but will interface with other Company departments, as well as outside vendors, consultants and taxing authorities.

Essential Job Functions:

Process and manage activities necessary to initiate, complete and reconcile the company’s purchases and sales. Manage document requirements related to purchases, sales and vendor relationships for various transactions.

Prepare, record, and reconcile journal entries, perform month-end analytical review of trial balance accounts.

Review purchase/sales transactions and apply applicable state and local tax rules to determine taxability and assist with month-end sales and use tax compliance for multiple Company entities filing in fourteen different state and local jurisdictions utilizing SAP and MS Excel.

Prepare monthly account reconciliations for the Company and prepare reports and documents as required to evaluate internal and external processes. Collaborate with internal personnel and external consultants to collect, analyze and summarize data seeking potential enhancements.

Establish reporting processes to segregate transactions by vendor, commodity and business unit. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies.

Implement and maintain tracking tools for document retention to audit adherence of defined processes and monitor vendor adherence to contractual terms and ensure internal policies and procedures are accurately followed.

Participate in required trainings to understand the Company system and perform routine administrative and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

BS in Accounting or Business Administration with accounting emphasis

One-three years of Accounting/Financial analysis experience

Strong accounting skills and sound understanding of financial statements

Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP) and Internet navigation and research

Ability and willingness to learn new computer software and systems.

Excellent verbal, written, analytical & communication skills.

Must be able to work independently and have a high degree of organization and prioritization skills.

Physical Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation.

Must be able to have consistent attendance.

Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Must be able to work on the computer for long periods of time
