Job Description

$23.05 - $25.40

To perform and document daily preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs for the Grain and Pellet Mill areas.

Monitor plant preventative maintenance program to ensure that scheduled work orders and follow up work orders are completed in a timely manner.

Perform troubleshooting and repairs as needed.

Perform periodic inspections of Plant for maintenance, safety, and environmental issues.

Perform fabrication of components as needed for repairs/ modifications

Housekeeping of shop & parts inventory, and project clean up

additional functions:

Perform other job duties when not needed/available to assist mechanics including utility/warehouse, pellet mill operators and commodities processer positions.

Qualifications

1. 5+ years of training and/or experience which has provided an advanced working knowledge of the Grain/Pellet Mill, or similar systems and practices including; proper lockout/tagout procedures, confined spaces, and hot work.

2. Ability to perform a variety of strenuous physical tasks including lifting (up to 80 lbs.), working in confined spaces, ability to work at heights (70 feet), climbing up/down ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, and reach on a daily/repetitive basis.

3. Must have bucket elevator experience to include belt/bucket and lagging assessment, upkeep and replacement.

4. Must have strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work with hand tools required for the job.

5. Must have the ability to:

a. Read and understand basic blueprints, schematics and repair manuals.

b. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair: hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and 3 phase electrical problems.

c. Repair and maintain gearboxes.

d. Weld using ARC and MIG machines on both mild and stainless steel.

e. Use cutting torch and plasma cutter.

f. Diagnose defects in electrical wiring, switches and motors.

g. Understand grain handling safety device testing and replacement

6. Good plumbing skills.

7. Ability to maintain boiler and air compressor systems.

8. Excellent problem solving skills.

9. Ability to operate all plant equipment and machinery including rolling stock (trucks/trailers, forklifts, loaders, manlifts).

10. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

11. Strong mathematical skills.

12. Ability to work efficiently and communicate needed PMs and repairs with production employees.

13. Excellent attendance record.
