Job Description

Technical/Managerial: Oversight for Residual and feed mill testing procedures/processes, research and implement alternative rapid tests related to supporting Corporate Food Safety Program, contribute to feed standards . Oversee the tests being performed by staff, including selection of proper test and procedure for test, review of data outputs for outliers and provide final review of results prior to submission to management. Analyze samples

Quality: Maintain accurate and timely records of results, maintain lab quality assurance, accreditation/recognition programs, troubleshoot instruments, facilitate instrument repair through manager, coordinating lab coverage for submission 7 days per week

Supervision/Training: supervise the hourly technician workforce to ensure that tests are ran accurately and meet necessary deadlines, ensure technician competency on required tests and provide training as needed, oversee scheduling, monitor performance and staffing of hourly technicians.

Cost: oversee inventory and ordering of lab supplies

Additional Functions:

Updating chemistry laboratory JSTA’s and CHP annually

Insuring MSDS review annually for all chemistry laboratory chemicals

Maintaining Quality Assurance manual for chemistry lab equipment and check samples

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science

· Minimum of 3-6 years laboratory experience

· Familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices and procedures

· Supervisory skills preferred

· High level or organization, writing and communication skills

· Experience in compiling, trending, and interpreting lab data
