Job Description

Purpose of position:
To provide analytical support to the central and over-reaching Payroll function by evaluating and supporting improvement opportunities as well as helping to drive change centrally and throughout the Payroll landscape. This position may also have operational responsibilities in order to build train the broader base of Payroll support team. This position will be an Authorized Caller to report, drill and drive solutions to system issues and shortcomings. This position is expected to be a growth position building for future leadership in the Payroll department.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Executes higher-level and different payroll and tax activities and controls ensuring that they are performed in a timely manner, with high standards of quality and accuracy, and in compliance with Banking, Regulatory, Tax, and Internal policies and procedures
2. Develops enhancements, performs and verifies reconciliations and controls to ensure the propriety, accuracy and integrity of the payroll, reporting, distributions, and tax initiatives
3. Participates in the assessment of implications of new requirements, policies, or procedures that affect payroll, taxes and related reporting activities
4. Gathers information and keeps abreast of shifting trends in Payroll process and systems. Creates and generates reports that are useful to the department and supports the company’s needs, and that identify and support areas of opportunity and improvement
5. Serves as a point of contact for internal and external auditors and the Internal Control Unit for payroll related activities and processes. Participates in the execution of remediation plans and activities, as applicable
6. Participates in and orchestrates the development and maintenance of operating manuals for payroll processes and controls
7. Administer and improve processes and programs to ensure that goals are achieved while maintaining workplace compliance, consistency and fairness. Leverages technology to enhance HR services and contain costs
8. Enables the establishment of standardized processes, expectations and drivers for consistency in the application of policies and procedures in the payroll and related functions
9. Directs or conducts new and experienced user systems training (all PR systems)

Qualifications

Requirements:
1. BA/BS Degree (or currently pursuing). Degree preference: HR Mgmt., Business Admin, Acctg, or equivalent.
2. Preferably two years of experience in or associated with Payroll, Tax, Finance, HR, Financial Systems/controls
3. Demonstrated PR/HR professional/technical knowledge, skills and expertise
4. Strong System Skills (Payroll/HR, WFM [time collection], Excel, Word,) to include query and report writing
5. Strong mathematical, analytical / problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
6. Effective Communication skills and leveraging of relationships and strategies.
7. Demonstrated Organizational & Planning Skills
8. Demonstrated history establishing objectives, tasks, responsibilities and timelines for completion of projects to deliver desired business results
9. Ability to understand client needs and provides services that meet their expectations for quality and performance;
10. Proven history with confidential and protected information.
11. Self-motivated & directed; ability to work under pressure in fast paced, deadline oriented environment
12. Excellent interpersonal
