Job Description
Technical: Performing food microbiological procedures, distribute test results, research and implement alternative rapid tests related to supporting Corporate Food Safety Program, contribute to investigative sampling and training in RTC facilities, provide information requested by company management regarding academic microbiological data
Quality: Maintain accurate and timely records of results, maintain lab quality assurance, accreditation/recognition programs, coordinating lab coverage for submission 7 days per week
Supervision/Training: Supervise the hourly technician workforce to ensure that tests are ran accurately and meet necessary deadlines, ensure technician competency on required tests and provide training as needed, oversee scheduling, monitor performance and staffing of hourly technicians.
Management: Delegate and guide task completion related to Corporate Food Safety project s that require microbiological data.
Cost: oversee inventory and ordering of lab supplies
Maintenance: Maintain function of laboratory equipment and update LIMS system
Update microbiology laboratory JSTA’s and CHP annually
Ensure MSDS and procedure review annually for food microbiology laboratory
Maintain Quality Assurance manual for food microbiology
Schedule annual training from vendors and maintain documents for BRC audits
Assist IT in the maintenance and improvement of SAP LIMS system
Qualifications
· Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or related science, M.S. preferred
· Minimum of 3-6 years laboratory experience
· Familiar with a variety of microbiological concepts, practices and procedures
· Supervisory skills preferred
· High level organization, writing and communication skills
· Experience in compiling, trending, and interpreting lab data
