Job Description

Purpose of position:

Develop new and improve existing products and processes to keep Foster Farms products competitive and profitable. Evaluate food ingredients, new technologies and food processing equipment for application to Foster Farms. Provide technical services to operations as requested.

Essential Job Functions

Provide technical support to develop and implement new and/or improved processes and products.

Identify, test and optimize production parameters which will improve yields and processing efficiencies.

Maximize utilization of all available raw materials for product formulations

To obtain least-cost formulating while maintaining corporate quality standards.

Prepare, update, and issue standard operating procedures.


Qualifications

Requirements:


Minimum
B.S. in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science, or related field plus 1-3 years of relevant product development experience 

Knowledge of poultry or meat processing, food processing and related equipment. 

Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Must be able to travel (auto and air) 

Excellent math skills - must be able to formulate food products

Computer literate


Preferred
M.S. degree in Meat Science, Poultry Science, Food Science or related field

B.S. in meat science, poultry science, food science or related field in addition to 2-5 years experience in the meat industry. 

Processed meat experience including lunch meat, sausages, and cooked chicken products.

Packaged meat experience including packaging equipment and materials experience.

Knowledge of poultry or meat processing, food processing and related equipment.
