Job Description

Purpose of position:
Supervise inventory staff. Responsible for entire close process relating to finished goods inventory and related entries.
Insure proper inventory valuation at the lower of cost or market for all finished goods.
Maintain accurate financial inventories for all Foster Farms locations and third party facilities utilizing SAP, EWM, and WMS systems.
Research, reconcile and correct all variances between warehouse/inventory systems and the general ledger.
Assist in periodic inventory forecast for FG inventory and reserves.
Assist plant accounting and plant personnel with WIP inventory adjustments and other inventory issues.
Prepare periodic and ad hoc reporting.
Review and approve periodic AAW’s. Review and maintain internal controls as they relate to the finished goods process. Oversee outside carrier claims process and maintain controls over lost and damaged finished goods inventory.

Essential Job Functions:

Timely and Accurate Closing of General ledger

Prepare and post all journal entries for finished goods inventory including; Standard Cost Revaluations, Deferred 

Weight Variance, Fixed Reserve, Lower of Cost or Market for Fixed and Variable Costs and Capitalization of Product

Handling; Capitalization of Manufacturing Variances, Inventory write up/down, and Damaged materials and Purchase Price Variances

Maintain SAP Inventory and balance external cold warehouses weekly

Review P.O. receipts into inventory and review open S.T.O.’s (In transit-items shipped not received), review confirmed sales company wide, track/review shipped weight variances all locations.

Weekly and period end cycle count tracking for total company and adjust inventory to reflect accurate balances by product for each location.

Track outside meat purchases, make adjustments as needed and post as necessary and review and correct variable and fixed inventory costs where necessary

Daily, weekly and periodic reporting, LCM Reserve (Actual and Forecast), periodic trended for other product cost, OPC Analysis (Actual and Forecast)

Prepare FG inventory summary (Actual and Forecast), prepare outside cold storage analysis, weekly market prices and weekly freezer reports for CA, PNW and LA, Damaged, customer returns

Balance sheet forecasts for Corporate and preparation and implementation of finished goods policies and procedures

Supervision of Staff

Prepare, review, and or approve periodic AAW’s for company finished goods inventory balance sheet accounts by profit center.


Additional Functions:
Occasional inventory test counts at internal facilities.
Period End “snapshot” of total company and external inventory
Assist with the coordination of year end inventory audit
Special projects as assigned by Logistics Controller


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
BS Degree in accounting or finance

Three-five years related work experience and have knowledge of inventory transactions and procedures

Proficient in Excel, SAP, and BW

Excellent analytical skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills and detailed oriented

Ability to work well independently and with a team

Must be self-motivated, assertive, objective, and resourceful.

Preferred Requirement:
MBA or CPA

Physical Requriements:

Consistent and reliable attendance

Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure situations
