Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Provide assurance over data & system integrity by performing tasks such as reconciling SAP to BW/COPA during the period end close. Provide accounting, reporting and analytical data to senior management to support short and long term decision-making activities. Manage SAP FICO master data. Ensure general ledger accounting for the Company is done in accordance with US GAAP. Perform and present variance analysis on Company financial statements. Coordinate the review of AAWs (balance sheet account reviews) and present findings and observations to management.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Period Reporting – Support & supervise the Accounting staff during close activities. Analyze period P&L actual to forecast results and communicate results to management. Review actual and forecasted balance sheet & cash flow, RONA and other reporting to include in period distribution.
  2. Perform reconciliation between the systems to ensure data integrity. Work closely with the SAP support team to resolve any errors. Write reports and ad-hoc queries within BW to help troubleshoot any problem areas and manage SAP FICO master data.
  3. Quarterly Reporting – Lead the tasks necessary to prepare financial statements and bank covenant calculations required for quarterly bank reporting. Individual will need sound understanding of consolidating financial statements, including eliminations. This task requires frequent communication with treasury group.
  4. Organize and present competitor data to analyze Competitor performance against the Company.
  5. Ad hoc projects including but not limited to design, specification development, and testing of system related solutions to business needs. Create Business Process Procedures and lead system solution design on a project basis
  6. Board Reporting – Prepare assigned board book pages such as balance sheet & cash flow position of the Company.
  7. Annual Audit – Coordinate activities for annual audit. This includes planning the activities and timelines, preparing P&L schedules, balance sheet roll forwards and other support documentation requested by external auditors. This task will require one to prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, draft notes to financial statements and research GAAP reporting and presentation techniques. This task requires frequent communication with both Company senior management and external audit management.
  8. Forecast – Assist in aggregating data for rolling SG&A forecast. Assist in the review of actual to forecast SG&A variances on a period basis, including providing meaningful explanations for variances.
  9. Balance Sheet Account Reviews – Prepare assigned AAWs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BS in Accounting or Finance
  2. Five-seven years of Accounting/Financial analysis experience, preferably in food or consumer goods industry.
  3. Must be able to travel 40-50% to Corporate locations.
  4. Strong accounting skills and sound understanding of financial statements
  5. Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, COGNOS)
  6. Excellent technical skills (i.e. SAP, DB2, Oracle, MS Office suite, MS Project, NetMeeting, Infopak, etc.)
  7. Ability and willingness to learn new computer software and systems.
  8. Excellent verbal, written, analytical & communication skills.
  9. Must have strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment and decision-making ability
  10. Must be able to describe the business benefits of implementing a particular solution

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  1. CPA
  2. One-two year’s public accounting experience.
  3. Willing to remain in position for long term investment in knowledge
  4. SAP R/3 Experience – FICO/COPA/PCA – configuration, data flows, transaction execution, report writing, results analysis, master data structures, results analysis
  5. SAP BW Experience – design, configuration, datasource development, transfer rules, update rules, data extraction/uploads, security roles, query/report writing, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must have reliable transportation.
  2. Must be able to have consistent attendance.
  3. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  4. Must be able to work on the computer for long periods of time
  5. Must be available every four weeks for financial closing process
