Job Description

Our client in Portland, Oregon is currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join their creative and dynamic team. This is a global 100 company that is trusted by the world’s greatest technology dependent luxury brands to design, create and construct creative products. The Applications Engineer will support in achieving their vision of replacing sewing with bonding.


Essential Responsibilities:

As an Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for providing application support to customers through field service, creating and conducting appropriate testing on lab samples, operating lab equipment, and providing accurate and timely reporting of test results.


Specific tasks include:

- Provide outstanding technical support to key accounts on assembly techniques using bonding.

- Work in a fast paced environment; providing quick responses to technical requests and developing innovative customer solutions.

- Collaborate with a global team to understand and support our customer’s design and application goals.

- Troubleshoot problems associated with concepts, applications and designs by proposing innovative solutions and assisting with proto-typing and mock-ups.

- Analyze test results and make recommendation on best product and processing for the applications.

- Develop innovative process and application solutions for customers.

- Recommend fabrication methods to replace sewing with bonding.

- Support on and off site customer visits with demonstrations of equipment and product applications.

- Make presentations to customers and train on bonding capabilities, assembly techniques, and designs that facilitate bonding as well as products and new product introductions.

- Learn Bemis product and application and develop the ability to generate ideas based on experience.

Qualifications

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering; mechanical or industrial engineering preferred

- 5+ years of experience in a developer or innovation role or similar at an apparel brand

- Hands-on garment assembly (sewing, bonding, machine operation) with the ability to make mock-up and show concepts

- Product creation process experience: Design through Manufacturing, with the ability to recommend if an application is viable in production

- Aggressive self-starter with strong results orientation

- Good written and oral interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

- Must have strong attention to detail

- Must be willing to travel up to 25%; including international
