Job Description

The Jr. Maintenance Mechanic position requires experience and skill in mechanical areas associated with plastics molding equipment and general facility grounds and equipment.

Understand and apply the principles of customer satisfaction, and meet those needs both internally andexternally through appropriate written and verbal communication, positive team
communication, and positive problem solving to enhance business results. Positive
conflict management and team skills are required to work within CSI’s team-oriented environment.


Perform equipment preventative maintenance and lube inspections on all machinery and
support equipment; operates equipment to test functioning, overall performance and detection of machine conditions that would affect safety or quality.

Follow all procedures and SOP’s for the facility i.e., LTTV, SOP’S, PPE, fall protection, etc.

Be aware of hazardous materials in the area and the proper handling of hazardous materials. Awareness will be achieved through training, MSDS review, safety meetings, and toolbox meetings.

Be aware of, understand, and follow emergency procedures.

Report all spills or other environmental incidents following EHS protocol.

Must follow all rules and comply with mandatory Job-Obs, IFE’s, IFO’s, Monday Reports, Quality training, monthly awareness training and any required departmental training/projects on time without supervision.

Work in such a manner as to prevent environmental incidents and if asked, to participate in investigations of environmental incidents.

Ensure correct components are available to complete PM’s per the PM Master schedule.

Cope with unforeseen situations, i.e., problems with process, machine speeds, reoccurring defects, detection/correction of unsafe conditions, and detection/correction of machinery problem issues.

Maintain a clean, safe and orderly working area and be accountable for your designated
area of 5’s.

Assist in assigned projects. This would include all aspects of a new project, i.e. placement, installation, fabrication and assembly of all associated equipment that may come with any project. This could also include working over and beyond a normal work day when needed.

Operate hand tools and power tools, as needed for repairs and troubleshooting. Read gauges and information on computer screens to diagnose equipment performance issues.

Prefer HS Diploma or GED certification; require previous experience in:

Minimum of three to five years’ experience from on-the-job training programs and maintenance experience is required. Some degree of understanding in the injection molding process along with all of its support equipment i.e., AEC’s, loaders, ohmites, chillers, conveyors, etc, and
the use of tools and devices used to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.

Experience in preventive maintenance, some troubleshooting, and the repair of manufacturing machinery.

Must have knowledge of mechanical principles, plus the knowledge to visualize arrangement and relationships between static or moving parts, and assemblies represented in blueprints and diagrams.

Requires a working knowledge of machine tool operations such as: drill press, hose crimper, etc.

Must possess experience in the use of all types of fabricating equipment: welders - arc, tig, oxygen/acetylene, plasma -cutting, etc.
