The principal challenge of this position is to effectively manage, control, monitor and upgrade the electrical control systems within the closure manufacturing department. This position may supervise all of the electrical technicians or at a minimum, be responsible for developing, through mentoring and training, the development of the capability within that group.
EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the knowledge of electrical engineering principals and applications normally acquired through the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology with 5+ years of hands on working experience in a manufacturing environment.
Through understanding of circuit analysis, electronics, control systems, signals, power distribution, PLC’s, microprocessors and communication systems. Also, knowledge of VFD, Servo drives and systems, along with machine controls. Allen Bradley experience is a plus but no required.
Through understanding of all process and auxiliary equipment. Working knowledge of the SOP’s associated with the electrical operation of each machine and each process
Basic knowledge of various computer programs, including: Microsoft Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and other related software programs.
Strong team and interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others with enthusiasm and drive.
Good organizational skills, the ability to understand CSI’s production process and a knowledge of the product from the internal and external customer’s perspective.
Work Schedule: overnight shift - 8 hour days, with occasional after hours work – position will provide support and trouble shoot for the overnight production crews
PPE: ANSI Z41 approved safety shoes, hearing and eye protection as appropriate for work area, gloves
according to work task, and other PPE as assigned and required.
Tools and Equipment: Various writing utensils, radios, phone, computer, printers, fax machines,
calculators, various computer software required for specific roles.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
This position reports directly to the manufacturing engineering supervisor. CSI is a producer of plastic closures for the beverage industry. While some of the work may be in a traditional engineering capacity, the majority of the focus will be towards hands-on troubleshooting of the process equipment and in directing others in the proper procedures to resolve machine issues. The individual must establish solid priorities and objectives and be able to function in a high pressure work environment, characterized by constant change. The individual must be an effective teacher/trainer/mentor.
Environmental Conditions: Climate controlled office facility with occasional or frequent exposure to manufacturing plant floor. Employees may work around moving parts and mobile equipment. Exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection when in production area.
