Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be the key person for providing expertise in the development and application of quality systems. He/she will be expected to provide guidance and training to other members of the manufacturing organization.
The Quality Systems Engineer will:
Be responsible for creating and maintaining the integrity and security of the Controlled Documents system for Crawfordsville Manufacturing.
Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans for Quality Systems
Lead internal Audits of Crawfordsville manufacturing facilities and serve as the Internal Audit
Participate in onsite Supplier Audit at vendor facilities.
Provide Manufacturing Management with Quality Systems input for tactical and strategic planning.
Provide clear quality standards and tools such as control plans, to facilitate evaluation of products and processes and to aid continuous improvement efforts.
Work with the Quality Manager, Sales, Process Engineering, and Operations to improve the relationship between our customers, their requirements and process capabilities.
The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Crawfordsville Quality Manager. This position works with all areas of closure manufacturing, as well as customers or suppliers. The incumbent must be able to effectively interact with personnel from all levels and departments inside CSI and with suppliers and customers as well. Travel to customer sites is required based on customer & business need.
Education and Other Skill Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering or a related area of study
Extensive background in manufacturing (two to three years minimum experience)
Certification by the American Society of Quality or similar organization related to auditing
Demonstrated understanding of industrial statistics (SPC)
Demonstrated expertise in advanced quality tools such as DOE, FMEA, etc.
Analytical skills for both manufacturing and process-related issues.
Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
Work Schedule: 8 hour days, with occasional after hours work
PPE: ANSI Z41 approved safety shoes, hearing and eye protection as appropriate for work area, gloves according to work task, and other PPE as assigned and required.
Tools and Equipment: Various writing utensils, radios, phone, computer, printers, fax machines, calculators, various computer software required for specific roles.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Climate controlled office facility with occasional or frequent exposure to manufacturing plant floor. Employees may work around moving parts and mobile equipment. Exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection when in production area.
