Geoscientist

  • Full-time

Company Description

Geomega, Inc. provides consulting and project management services offering creative, cutting edge solutions to complex environmental problems. Principal clients range from regional to large multi-national mining, energy, and petro-chemical companies. Geomega, Inc. provides its private sector client base with time and mission-critical environmental permitting, geochemical and hydrogeologic characterization and modeling, environmental impact analyses, and litigation support.

Job Description

Geomega, Inc. is seeking a mid-level geoscientist to be a core player in our practice of data-driven environmental analytics. The geoscientist will support especially our mining and energy sector client needs, as well as general hydrology, remediation, and litigation projects. A range of skills is required including geostatistics, deterministic 3D geologic modeling and 3D visualization, geoscience database compilation, as well as custom script development for analyses of large data sets. The successful candidate will strive for workflow automation and reproducibility. The geoscientist will be expected to readily shift and translate skills between multiple projects. For example, typical challenges may include characterizing waste rock from a mining project hosted in a pre-Cambrian formation, to describing the heterogeneities within quaternary gravels that host a decade-old hydrocarbon plume, both utilizing analytical data and modeling across traditional scientific disciplines. A background that includes work within the private sector is favored, including fieldwork associated with exploration or environmental drilling.
