Role and Responsibilities

The Graphic Artist develops recruiting materials for the Navy Recruiting Command (NRC), utilizing many varying types of media. The Graphic Artist completes and delivers all assigned projects by a mutually agreed upon deadline within quality standards.

Primary Objectives of the Graphic Artist

  • In support of NRC, communicates information through visual means, such as sketches, drawings, computer generated graphics and design, photo illustration and digital image manipulation, newspaper and magazine advertisements;
  • Creates publication layouts and designs for magazines, brochures, pamphlets, booklets, programs, tri-folds, exhibits and displays, and desk calendars;
  • Produces hand calligraphy, matting, framing and digital photo retouching;
  • Prepares photographic images using photo editing software to create digital files for use in printed publications;
  • In accordance with government standards, produces  documents that are understandable, legible, and timely;
  • Formats all graphic elements to be used in CD-ROM production for the purpose of recruiting.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred with two (2) to four (4) years in the field or related area;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, at a minimum, a favorable National Agency Check with Local Agency Check (NACLAC);
  • Must possess knowledge and skills with current graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Bridge) to produce visual materials for promotions, advertisements, films, packaging, and informative and instructional material through a variety of media outlets such as websites or CD-ROM’s;
  • Proficient in MS office products;
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for developing Navy Recruiting Material;
  • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals set by the customer.
