POSITION SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist will perform a full range of therapy services to develop treatment, and oversee the rehabilitation of patients as required, and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF.

DUTIES: Include, but are not limited to the following:

* The Physical Therapist shall direct and support the following activities, as required, and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF to include, but will not necessarily be limited to the following:

* Manage a caseload. Write reports and attend multidisciplinary case meetings to plan and review ongoing treatment

* Act as the liaison with a wide variety of professionals, such as doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, to give a consistent continuum of care to the patient. Coordinate patient referral to other medical providers and families.

STAFFING & SCHEDULING:

* Usual Duty schedule is Monday through Friday 07:00 – 16:00. Physical Therapists must be able to work flexible hours and respond at a very short notice. Employees cannot work more than 40 per week.

* Locations of Service: Ft. Belvoir, Ft Meade, Ft Myers, JB Andrews, NHC Quantico, and Walter Reed NMMC.

Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy accredited by The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) or the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission.

* Licensure: A current, unrestricted license to practice Physical Therapy in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

* Experience : Must have been continuously employed, for a minimum of one year, as a PT in a hospital or clinical setting.

* Certification : Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association – Healthcare Provider).

Other Required Qualifications: 1) Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers. 2) Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members. 3) Shall be sufficiently skilled to teach patients proper self-care and to motivate patients and family members to continue the procedures for promoting rapid healing. 4) Shall be knowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients. The Contract Physical Therapist shall demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the appropriate patient population served: Infants, Children, Adolescent, Adults, and Geriatric (>65). 5) Assess, coordinate, facilitate, deliver and evaluate care for infant to geriatric patients using the nursing process. 6) Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.

* Must be a U.S citizen and have the ability to pass a background check/security clearance.
