Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is a community-based not-for-profit organization that creates opportunities for individuals with barriers to enhance their lives.  Rockford, IL serves as the headquarters and Mission Services Center with retail stores in northern Illinois (Rockford, Machesney Park, Freeport, Sterling, DeKalb, Ottawa, McHenry, Huntley, Algonquin, and Crystal Lake) and Beloit, Wisconsin which employ over 450 people.

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is seeking a part-time Job Coach for its Ottawa Store. The Job Coach is responsible for assisting participants with disabilities and barriers to employment in performing designated work tasks in Goodwill’s retail stores. Specific job responsibilities include:

• Work with individuals with disabilities to coach and motivate to perform work successfully.

• Create effective solutions and accommodations for individuals with disabilities. 

• Work proactively with retail store staff and ensure outcomes match with retail goals. 

• Coach participants, including modeling work and motivating. 

• Prepare work stations for daily work activities. 

• Perform work assigned to participants, including hanging and sorting clothing items. 

• Responsible for enforcing program guidelines.

• Create and maintain case notes for participants. 

• Effectively perform monthly case management meetings.

• Ability to stand for 4-6 hours per shift and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to bend, twist, and have full range of motion to prepare work stations. 

• Follow the routine duties set forth by Mission Services staff.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, higher education preferred; American Sign Language preferred; demonstrated ability to work with individuals with disabilities and understand and communicate with diverse groups – three-five years experience preferred; the ability to motive and assist individuals in performing work; and strong verbal and written communication skills.
