Job Description

Receiving, Sorting and Pricing Workstation:

 

  1. Greets donors courteously and accepts goods with care.
  2. Offers receipts and answers donors’ questions.
  3. Provides donors with Goodwill pricing guideline if pricing assistance is requested.
  4. Communicates to donors why certain items can’t be accepted by Goodwill and refers donor to an alternate agency.
  5. Sorts and delivers donated textile material to Sorting, Grading and Hanging workstation.
  6. Reviews and utilizes current Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall bulletins to prevent unsafe items from being sold in the retail store.
  7. Prices accepted donations and stages them to be placed in retail store.

 

Sorting, Grading and Hanging Workstation:

 

  1. Inspects donated goods for quality to determine marketability.
  2. Tags donated items according to Goodwill’s rotation system.
  3. Hangs/prices (if necessary) inspected goods for placement onto retail sales floor.
  4. Produces appropriate number of textile items each day according to Goodwill’s minimum standards.

 

 

Sales Floor/Cashier Workstation:

 

  1. Assists customers in locating and/or selecting merchandise.
  2. Processes customer sales transactions by greeting the customer, ringing the sales on a cash register, collecting the payment, making change, bagging the merchandise and thanking the customer for shopping at Goodwill.
  3. Accurately conducts sales transactions and maintains cash and credit card control by following proper procedures regarding voids, refunds, checks, credit cards, discounts, etc.
  4. Merchandises items on the sales floor in an attractive manner that maximizes floor and shelf space.
  5. Provides excellent customer service at all times and remains calm and professional under stressful situations.
  6. Greets customers and converses with them on the sales floor.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum of six months experience in a retail environment. 
  • Must have dependable transportation.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must have ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
