Job Description

Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia is growing! We are looking to add a talented Assistant General Manager to our team at The Goodwill Store in Aberdeen. As an Assistant General Manager for Goodwill, you will have a chance to earn a living while supporting Goodwill's mission to help people with disabilities or disadvantages achieve their potential through work.

Qualifications

Basic Function:

Assists and supports the General Manager in management of store operations. Responsible to meet and/or exceed performance and profit goals according to the corporate objectives. Responsible to oversee the daily operations of the donation area. Responsible to supervise, motivate, and discipline all Donor Services Associates and in supervising, disciplining, discharging, hiring, motivating, and training of store employees. Provides exceptional customer service that is FAST, FUN, and FRIENDLY.

 

Specific Duties:*

  • Assist in the supervision of the day-to-day task assignments and performance of store associates.
  • Responsible to be knowledgeable and competent in all aspects of running a Goodwill store.
  • Responsible to supervise, motivate, and discipline all Donor Services Associates and ensure they are providing excellent customer service.
  • Responsible to oversee and run the donation area of the store, including customer/donor service.
  • Ensure a pleasant shopping experience for all customers, respond to customer complaints or inquiries, and solicit customer feedback and input.
  • Assists in the planning and work scheduling of store employees and coordinate daily assignments.
  • Assists in the preparation of personnel and payroll records as well as other paperwork required in day-to-day operation of store.
  • Uses cash register to total sales, accepts payment, and authorizes voids, returns, exchanges, and credits for merchandise.
  • Stocks and maintains interior and exterior of store in a neat, clean, and orderly manner (includes vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, washing windows, etc.).
  • Follows company policies and safety procedures for all undertakings while on job.
  • Ensures execution of established safety, security, quality, and store operation rules as well as companywide policies and procedures.
  • Maintains safe and appropriate conditions in donation area, as well as sales floor and backroom when manager on-duty.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to discuss and improve productivity, methods, processes, and quality.
  • Assists customers and donors as required, including accepting donations and selling merchandise.
  • Ability to coordinate with mission services staff to collectively develop trainees placed on site.
  • Responsible to communicate corporate mission to customers, donors, and staff.
  • Maintain adequate volume of merchandise displayed on sales floor, ensuring production volume is sufficient to reach revenue goals.
  • Act as a positive Role Model for employees, trainees, and customers in all aspects of professional performance.
  • Responsible for meeting quality processing goals as set forth by the company. Also maintaining a quota required by the company for the processing team as a whole.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Other duties as assigned (non-essential).

Skills and Abilities Needed:**

  • Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with, and among, store employees.
  • Ability to plan and organize store and production work schedules to meet demands and specifications of store and donation centers.
  • Must have the ability to perform exceptional customer service.
  • Must be a friendly, people-person.
  • Must interact cordially and productively with donors, customers, and Goodwill employees, and motivate employees to their best performance.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Ability to observe merchandise presentation, floor layout, safety, and security concerns.
  • Knowledge of women, men, and children's clothing as well as furniture and household items.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including nights, weekends, and occasionally long hours.
  • Ability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Schedule flexibility and access to transporation in order to assist Goodwill in other stores or projects as neeeded.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to engage in prolonged standing and walking.
  • Ability to engage in frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Vision corrected to within normal limits.
  • Ability to function in hectic work environment with occassional periods of high stress.
  • Must be willing to relocate to other retail locations within the geographic region of Goodwill of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia.
