Job Description

The Instructor will be an enthusiastic team player responsible for providing classroom instruction,
assessment services, curriculum development and group facilitation. The candidate should have knowledge of adult education principles and theories and be able to create and implement lesson plans. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching, outlining and planning curriculum and lesson plans around departmental standards

  • Instructing using a variety of delivery methods including lecture, question and answer, small groups, collaborative instruction, and self-directed learning while motivating students through classroom contextualized instruction to learn basic life, academic and employability skills

  • Gearing instruction towards preferred learning styles of students and enforcing classroom and program rules and policies

  • Managing day to day responsibilities of a classroom including conflict resolution and maintaining a safe learning environment

  • Measuring
    and interpreting student progress through the administration of informal and
    formal assessments and meeting with students to discuss their results

  • Keeping
    secure and accurate student records and reporting attendance in accordance with
    funding sources’ requirements

  • Attending regular staff meetings and required professional develop opportunities in order to stay current on best practices

  • Maintaining continuous and consistent communication (including notation) with students about goal setting, barrier and resource identification, and follow-up to ensure their successful transition.

Additional responsibilities include adhering to and mplementing all agency and departmental policies and procedures. The candidate must be patient and creative while possessing excellent oral/written communication skills with the ability to breakdown complex information and present it in a way that is understandable to the target audience. They must be customer/detail oriented, be organized and have the ability to solve problems independently. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required. This position is full time with a schedule of 8- 4 Monday – Friday.

Qualifications

Location: McKeesport

Education: Bachelors Degree in Education/Teaching

Experience: 1 or more years’ experience

External Hiring Range: $27,000 to $30,000/Year       Travel Required: Yes
