Job Description

The Transition Specialist will provide structured intervention techniques and support to youth in
Goodwill job skills training programs and/or competitive placements to meet
site needs and/or prescribed production expectations. This includes
job specific training,
support, information and supervision to high school students with
disabilities/barriers to employment throughout businesses and organizations in
Allegheny County. Duties include but are
not limited to:

  • Providing training on proper work techniques and socialization skills through the completion of job and task analysis
  • Implementing necessary educational, behavioral, and/or development supports which may include assistive technology

  • Building natural supports within the work environment

  • Identifying and implementing job modifications such as geographical or adaptive work illustrations

  • Assisting the client to attain identified employment goals by utilizing positive motivational strategies and techniques

  • This is a Full Time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend or evening hours. Benefits are offered

Qualifications

Location: 118 52nd Street

Education: Associates Degree in Human Services, Psychology/Rehabilitation Science, Social Service or a Related Field.

Experience: 2 or more years’ experience successfully working with individuals with disabilities/barriers to employment. Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, disability laws including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Individuals with Disabilities and
Education Act (IDEA). Will also consider a Bachelors Degree and 0-1 years’ experience as stated above.

External Hiring Range: $12.67 to $13.84/Hour   Travel Required: Yes
