We also work closely with Headwaters Trails Alliance, a nonprofit advocacy organization for trails in Grand County, to expand and connect the broader community with high quality, low impact trails. Moreover, we donate annually to local organizations, such as the Grand Foundation—a philanthropic organization that seeks to improve the quality of life in Grand County by addressing needs in the areas of health and human services, arts and culture, education, amateur sports, and environment.  As we like to say, ‘a rising tide lifts all boats;’ thus, we strive not only for our own community’s success but for the success of our Grand County neighbors.

SNOW SCHOOL MISSION:
To Inspire a Lifelong Love of Snow Sports

SUMMARY:

As a Granby Ranch Ski Instructor, you not only get to ski  for a living, and inspire your students, you also learn practical life skills that can help you toward your long-term, professional goals.  Valuable skills that you will learn and improve upon include, but are not limited to, leadership, teamwork, time management, accountability, responsibility and multi-tasking.  Because your unique personality and strengths are what make our program special, we applaud initiative, and urge you to take on creative control in your lessons, within Granby Ranch snow school standards and parameters.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach quality skiing lessons as assigned.
• Attend training clinics as scheduled.
• Report to class line-ups as scheduled and on time.
• Adhere to all safety requirements and standards at all times.
• Follow appropriate children center procedures when assigned there.
• Other duties as assigned.                            

 OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adjust class by moving students to appropriate class, when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized ski school and children center area at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized resort area by picking up refuse and other items in and around the resort.
• Other duties as assigned.

 Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

• Knowledge, Skills & Ability:
  • Ability and Skills to ski.
  • Requisite skills to teach skiing and/or snowboarding classes.
  • Willingness to learn new instructional methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, guests and staff.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to receive and respond to instructions and critical feedback.
• Education or Formal Training:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • PMTS, PSIA, AASI certification preferred.
• Experience:
  • Experience teaching.
  • Experience teaching skiing preferred.
• Working Environment:
  • Must be able to work outdoors for long periods of time in a winter mountain environment with variable weather conditions.
  • Some indoor work for the children center.
• Physical Activities:
  • Must be able to physically teach skiing and/or snowboarding classes and lessons.
  • Must be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds or more.
