Job Description

The HSE Coordinator contributes directly to the success of overall health, safety and environment program in development, practices, policies and procedures that help sustain and strengthen a positive safety culture at IEC. Always ensuring compliance to legislation, prime contractor and company standards with both corporate and individual due diligence as a goal. 

This position is a camp position. Shifts run on a 9 and 5 rotation outside of Bonnyville, AB.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support all workers and staff in superior safety performance, both in positive and correction activities
  • Identify and monitor all follow up actions and corrections for completion, working directly with site supervisors to satisfactory resolution.
  • Maintain awareness of current OHS ACT, regulation and code for applicable jurisdictions as well as other pertinent legislation and standards
  • Aid in safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations
  • Work with qualified, competent trades people in development of new and or changed requirements (legislated and industry driven).
  • Aid HSE department in preparation of reporting and follow up to meet the department’s reporting requirements.
  • Incident, Near Miss Reporting
  • Participate and lead site toolbox safety meetings and pre job hazard assessments meetings for effective site communications
  • Actively review and mentor job hazard and risk analysis and appropriate control measures.
  • Worksite Safety Inspections
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.


  • NCSO certification, or relevant experience and or training within the health, safety, environment field
  • 3-5 years' experience in a safety role within an Oil and Gas setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE procedures and practices.
  • Keen attention to details.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Belief in HSE philosophy
  • Resourceful and flexible.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.
