As a Tax Accountant in the Finance and Accounting department, your main focus is to ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and timely compliance with the company's tax obligations in accordance with current regulations. You follow up on accounting reconciliations, tax returns and working papers. You work together with the accounting area to measure and analyze the fiscal impact in the routines in an efficient way following our values.
This role reports into our Accounting Lead for CO & EC and is based out of the Bogotá, Colombia Support Office.
Job Description
A Day in the Life
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*
Financial Statements and Reporting:
- Generate and ensure accuracy and legal compliance of required accounting reports, in conjunction with Accounting Lead & Tax & Report Coordinator
- Collaborate, establish procedures, and follow up with other departments to ensure timely reporting
- Support Accounting Lead in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing
- Initiate and perform analysis of general ledger reserves
- Establish routines and follow-ups for securities reserves and intercompany transaction
- Establish routines for fixed asset reserves and depreciation calculations
- Communicate with external auditable authorities
General responsibilities:
- Perform accounting and tax adjustments on taxes withheld from suppliers
- Reconcile tax accounts against tax returns
- Reconcile revenue accounts against accounting records
- Prepare provisions for the industry and commerce tax (ICA) and record them periodically
- Intercompany – Prepare and send electronic invoices for related-party transactions, analyze and record applicable withholdings for income tax and VAT on these operations
- Review and analyze withholdings on invoices in VIM (Taxaudit) to ensure proper tax recording
- Manage the tax authority’s web platform (DIAN, SRI, SAT) to ensure the company’s formal obligations are met
- Analyze, review, and propose applicable withholdings on purchases of goods and services from foreign suppliers
- Review and record settlements from the Impex area
- Review and record corporate credit card purchases
- Coordinate processes with other areas and external entities to ensure due diligence in requirements and/or requests from tax authorities
- Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time within the legal deadlines
- Provide support to the tax coordinator in analyzing tax information
- Prepare and monitor exogenous and foreign exchange information at the national and municipal level
- Manage reports for government entities such as: Banco de la República, DANE, Superintendencies de Industria y Comercio, and municipal Treasury Departments
- Process registration and/or updates in RUT, RIT, and the Chamber of Commerce
- Properly manage tax consulting by liaising and reporting directly to the tax advisory team
- Prepare and deliver withholding certificates to third parties
- May perform other activities related to the position Tax payments /Federal & state
- Pay the Federal taxes and ICA
Qualifications
Who You Are:
- Professional in Public Accounting
- At least 5 years of experience in the accounting and tax area
- SAP level and Excel level: High
- English level: Intermediate
- Knowledge of tax regulations
- Knowledge in IFRS
