Gabberts Accessory Buyer

  • Full-time

Company Description

Gabberts/HOM is a FANTASTIC place work. HOM was founded in 1973 as a small import business. In 1979, The Waterbed Room was born, and soon became the largest retailer of waterbeds in the upper Midwest. By 1994, The Waterbed Room had evolved into two separate specialty stores -- HOM Oak & Leather and Total Bedroom -- and the business continued to grow.

In 1997, HOM Furniture Inc. combined the two formats into a chain of full-line furniture stores which is now HOM Furniture. HOM has been rated one of the top 50 largest furniture retailers in the U.S. since 2001. Currently, there are seven Twin Cities showrooms: Bloomington, Coon Rapids, Lakeville, Plymouth, Rogers, Roseville and Woodbury. Our Coon Rapids facility contains the Showroom, Corporate Offices and our Main Distribution Center under one roof. HOM's family also stretches to eight out-state locations including; Hermantown, St Cloud, and Rochester, MN; Sioux City, IA; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD; and Eau Claire and Onalaska, WI.

Gabberts Design Studio and Fine Furniture is a family business built on integrity and innovation. Founded by entrepreneur Don Gabbert in 1946, Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture started as a tire and appliance store in downtown Minneapolis before converting to a general furniture store seven years later.  In 1959, Don moved the company to the Twin Cities suburb of Edina. This new store featured furniture creatively displayed in vignettes—a first for the furniture industry—allowing customers to envision how entire rooms of items would look in their homes. The lower level included a family-friendly Garden Court, offering free refreshments, patio seating and a play area for kids. In 1959, Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture became a national trend-setter by launching a premier design studio inside a furniture store. Gabberts soon became synonymous with design. Through the years, the company was owned and operated by the Gabberts family, with management responsibilities passing from Don to sons John and Jim. In the 1990s, House Beautiful magazine named Gabberts the “Best Home Furnishings Retailer in America.”

In 2008, Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture was acquired by Twin Cities-based HOM Furniture, the regional furnishings leader in the high-quality, moderately-priced level of the market. HOM Furniture is a local and privately owned, family-oriented business with a history of maintaining strong brands and a commitment to the communities it serves. HOM Furniture brings to Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture a strong infrastructure, buying power, distribution network and extensive service capabilities helping Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture grow its “highest-quality” brand regionally.
