Job Description

The Program Director is responsible for the advancement of Leadership Memphis mission through meaningful experiences for participants by providing thought provoking content and teaching high impact and action oriented community leadership skills. 

  1. Provides high level research, planning, implementation and evaluations of Leadership Memphis programs, and program functions.
  2. Produce and provide organizational supervision over annual program curriculum, advancing the culture, and creating an ecosystem of community leadership.

  3. Connects community leaders to impact and foster support, diversity/equity in every aspect of our community.

  4. Manages Core Programs that serves nearly 200 community leaders, i.e., Executive Programs, FastTrack, and Grassroots programs on an annual basis.

  5. Provides support for the American Leadership Forum (ALF) Criminal Justice Program.

  6. Provides direction, goal setting and oversight of staff.

  7. Manages and supervises multiple vendor’s activities, i.e., guest faculty site venues, caterers and faculty programs.

  8. Responsible for providing effective hiring and firing recommendations.

  9. Supervises staff and volunteers.

  10. Maintain professional relationships and holds to the highest academic standards everyone who is involved with the planning/delivery of all Leadership Memphis programs.

  11. Produces the following deliverables on an annual basis:

  • Executive program – one class of 80/graduate 75

  • FastTrack program – two classes of 40 (80)/graduate 75

  • Grassroots program – one class of 40 (40)/graduate 35

  • Development/delivery of learning objectives for each program

  • Development/delivery of a strong curriculum for Core Program

  • Professional resource/instructional materials for all programs

  • Direction of logistics for each program

  • Recruitment and direction of staff and guest faculty

  • Accurate class rosters

  • Active communication plan for students in each class

  • Collateral materials for program

  • Staging successful graduation ceremony for annual program year.

  • Effective evaluations of each class 


    Qualifications

    Master’s Degree required plus five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience preferably in
    business, education and/or non-profit environment. Working knowledge of community, national
    service and education preferred.

    • Possess strong computer skills, including Excel, Power Point, Word, and has a working
      knowledge of complex databases.

    • Ability to build constituency programs and activities.

    • Skilled in overcoming barriers and obstacles.

    • Ability to motivate staff and volunteers.

    • Ability to seek additional knowledge.

    • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.


    Additional Requirements:

    • Ability to work extended hours when needed.

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    • Willingness to use personal vehicle during events.
