Company Description

HVAC Investigators (HVACi for short) is the nation's largest provider of objective damage assessments of HVAC and Refrigeration claims for insurance carriers around the country.  Our goal is to provide timely, actionable, and impartial reports, regardless of where a system resides or what caused the damage.  We bring clarity to HVAC insurance claims, and help adjusters settle with confidence, based solely on the facts.  HVACi is a fast-paced, dynamic, growing organization that is seeking bright, hard-working, and honest team members to join our quest in the fight against property insurance fraud.

Job Description

What do we do?

Every day, hundreds of insurance claims are filed for both residential and commercial HVAC equipment. The problem that the insurance companies are running into is this:  the stated type of damage that is being filed is not actually the legitimate cause of damage, which leaves them paying far beyond what is required.

For example, someone with a 15 year old unit files a claim with their insurance company for lightning damage when, in reality, their system is old and has failed due to wear and tear OR their local contractor has given them a quote to replace their entire system when actually all that is needed is a $200 part.

We provide a very valuable service for insurance companies nationwide to find out the facts and, in turn, save their company money. We treat these claims like crime scenes, so to speak, to provide the insurance company with a non-biased, objective diagnosis of cause of damage as well as providing recommendations that will bring the unit back to pre-loss condition. When the claim is settled, the homeowner’s unit should be restored back to the condition that it was in the day before the damage occurred – NOT the day they bought it!

Where do you fit in?

We have over 600 technicians nationwide that do independent contract work for our company. We’re not looking for someone to commit to 40 hours a week – this is supplemental work that can be scheduled to fit your availability! Our scheduling department will be working with you to coordinate a time that works for both you and the homeowner. We ask you to take photos, document all readings, and be very thorough in your inspection so that we can deliver A+ reports to our insurance carriers.

How do you get paid?

We pay a flat rate per diagnosis that you complete. Once you send in your report with the photos and documentation, we are able to issue your payment directly in a variety of different payment methods (most of our technicians prefer PayPal).

Qualifications

All of our technicians are required to be HVAC licensed in their state (if required by the state), hold liability insurance, hold an EPA Type 2 or Universal certification, hold Liability Inusrance, pass a criminal background check, and have a minimum of 5 years practical residential and commercial HVAC trouble-shooting and repair experience.
