Job Description

We are currently looking for a Management Information Developer to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives. 

What we will expect you to do:

As a Management Information Developer, your key function will be to develop the management information systems that will ensure the promotion of operational efficiency and effectiveness of our Services business. You will develop applications and reports in line with the required specifications. 

You will operate in the Services business and in this capacity we need you to deliver on the following:

  • Interrogate information to ensure the compilation of reports, specifying the criteria to obtain the necessary data using structured query language (SQL)
  • You will be expected to build SQL to generate data for reports and build management system reports to format data and provide interactive reports which are user friendly and comprehensive
  • You will need to ensure that applications and reports are tested prior to obtaining approval from the relevant internal stakeholders
  • Provide an end-user perspective into the way the data needs to be consumed
  • Create and maintain data structures to support operational reporting / requirements
  • Translate the business / functional requirements into operational data structures and reports
  • Assist in presenting the reports to the relevant stakeholders
  • You will be expected to maintain the reporting schedules
  • You must ensure the setup of the backup process for all databases and check that all backups are generated daily and are valid
  • Adhere to and follow the Global Services Development and Support processes
  • Actively participate in any assigned tasks and / or projects and meet agreed timeframes 
  • Work as part of the team to meet the success criteria set for operational support and / or projects
  • Communicate and escalate if any issues arise or deliverables cannot be met and request assistance, if required, to ensure deliverables are met
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with your manager, team members and communities within Dimension Data
  • Undertake, as requested by your manager, general tasks required to meet the objectives of Global Services and Dimension Data
  • Act as the bridge between business and IT by analysing our client's business systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering the proposed solutions

  2. Demonstrate good attention to detail and have excellent planning and organising skills
  3. You will be expected to display good interpersonal skills and be able to work with a variety of internal stakeholders
  4. Possess good verbal and written communication skills 
  5. Capable of managing assigned work processes, contributing to the success of the team
  6. Proficient in coordination and task management with an ability to encourage and motivate others to achieve objectives
  7. You must be a self-motivated individual capable of working unsupervised as well as being able to work as part of a team in a global and sometimes pressured environment
  8. Demonstrate a proactive, flexible attitude to work with a willingness to constantly review and improve skills
  9. Must be willing and able to travel locally and internationally, dependant on operational and project requirements

Qualifications

Key requirements:

  • Between 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Management Information Developer within the Technology industry 
  • A Diploma in Management Information Systems  
  • Experience in working with Oracle, SQL and Business Intelligence toolsets 
  • Extensive experience in and with all operational aspects of a Services business, preferably with a Systems Integrator
  • Excellent documentation skills, in particular, functional requirements, test cases, system user documentation, processes and procedures and presentations
  • Understanding of and experience with ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)
  • Understanding of project management processes and methodologies
  • Experiencing in coordinating and managing tasks, and small projects
  • Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Word, Excel Project, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Understanding of system generally used in a services organisation e.g. ServiceNow, Siebel, Remedy, SAP, EMS would be advantageous
