Job Description

As a Business Technology Consultant for our Data Centre at Dimension Data, you will take responsibility for supporting our clients and helping them create business value with technology. You primary responsibility will be to assist with the creation of transformation strategies and plans that define how existing and emerging technology should be utilized to support an organization's overall business transformation strategy.

What we will expect you to do: 

You will develop and maintain knowledge of evolving trends in one or more emerging technology areas and apply these to define opportunities for client organizations to deliver new business capabilities, profitable business growth and competitive cost efficiencies In this capacity we will expect you to deliver on the following: 

Problem identification and analysis 

  • You will identify the most important client IT issues, and maximize business value by conducting rigorous analysis of processes, organization and technology to develop strategic multiyear roadmaps within your domain of specialisation that addresses these business application and operation issues.
  • Use your sound client engagement skills to identify and analyse client problems and opportunities for improvement and work closely with the relevant internal Dimension Data business and service unit stakeholders to consider the appropriate and innovative solutions to solve these problems.
  • Conduct business diagnostic studies and assess functional areas of the information technology and communications sector.

Identify business transformation initiatives and solutions 

  • You will be required to develop, maintain and communicate domain specific technology roadmap documents and business cases.
  • We will need you to provide the end to end solution set to enable the client's business transformation.
  • Execute domain-specific strategy roadmap workshops following our consulting methodology, and leveraging strategic assessments, frameworks and tools depending on the scope.

Co-ordinate the solution implementation 

  • Contribute to the development and selection of optimal services solutions to meet ongoing client needs that are in line with industry best practice and standards.
  • Develop customised service modles based on client needs.

Assess commercial viability of deals 

  • We will need you to take responsibility for the analysis, requirements definition, process design and oversight of the implementation, integration and testing of the solution by orchestrating the internal co-ordination of the solution implementation.
  • Continuously drive for client satisfaction and brief and introduce the Implementation and Integration Professional Services specialist, ensuring the completion of assignments.

Practice Management 

  • You will remain abreast of current industry and technology trends and best practices in their area of expertise by attending technical conferences.

Datacentre consulting 

  • Develop business, process, organization and technology related probing questionnaires that can be leveraged in detailed assessments of the business, process, technology and organization needs of a client.
  • Hold deep dive discussions in specific Datacentre technologies to uncover client Datacentre needs and implementation requirements.
  • Define implementation tasks from strategy, analysis, design, implementation, migration, validation, and adoption to run and maintain in a project or programme plan and act as a Project Manager as needed.

Business development 

  • Provide your engagement and subject matter expertise in supporting the internal stakeholders in proposal development and other business development activities.
  • Work proactively with sales to look for additional business opportunities to address client requirements and continuously search for creative solutions to address the client's business needs.

  • Good problem solving skills with the ability to ask the right questions to uncover the core of the problem
  • The ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the solution leads to business transformation
  • Impressive consulting skills and the ability to recognise opportunities for future business within an account
  • Assertive in approach coupled with confidence in area of expertise

Qualifications

Here's what we are looking for in candidates for this job: 

Key requirements: 

  • At least 8 years' experience in a consulting and senior IT role within a large scale (preferably multi- national) technology services environment
  • Qualification in Technology and/or Business Management
  • Deep domain expertise and sound consulting and client engagement experience coupled with solid experience in client needs assessment and change management within Cloud Services
  • Proven experience in integrating the solutions for particular projects with the business domain, enterprise concerns, industry standards, established patterns, and best practices
  • Demonstrated transformational consulting experience
  • Proven ability to facilitate and lead conversations and workshops with Senior and Executive level clients
