We are currently looking for a Service Design Architect for Managed Services for Data Centres (MSDC) to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives.

What we will expect you to do:

As a Service Design Architect (MSDC), your key function will be to conceptualise, scope and ensure the development of new MSDC products and services that provide value to Dimension Data clients through participation in projects or tasks related to the service required.

In this capacity we need you to deliver on the following:

  • Drive cost savings in the way service is delivered and at the same time optimise our clients’ experience of the service.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of opportunities that have been identified to ensure that new MSDC service concepts are scoped and developed in response to these opportunities
  • We will require you to look beyond existing MSDC processes, systems and platforms and find ways to drive operational efficiencies.
  • You will need to scope the MSDC service operation, identifying and documenting operational gaps in the current service and continuously seek ways in which to improve the effectiveness of service delivery such as the automation of routine activities.
  • Work with the business and services operations team to define processes, procedures and work instructions, prepare the necessary documentation, including user guides and templates for service deployment and test cases and participate in system and user testing
  • Own the proposed MSDC product concept and transition the build/implementation to the product delivery/development team.
  • You will be expected to develop and articulate the reasons and benefits of investing in a new product or improving on existing products and build the business case.
  • Compile business requirements to realise the product concept.
  • Provide a general description of the product and its purpose and ensure that the features and functions provided by the product is identified and documented.
  • Explore ways of delivering the MSDC service in the most cost effective manner
  • Drive the improvement of the end-to-end client experience of the MSDC service and support internal teams with the implementation of improvement programmes or solutions.

Qualifications

Here's what we are looking for in candidates for this job:


Key requirements:

  • Relevant qualification (Technical or Business)
  • Proven track record in the area of product architecture and automation of services
  • A background as a system administrator or developer would be advantageous
  • Extensive experience in and with all operational aspects of a Services business, preferably with a Systems Integrator
  • Understanding of project management processes and methodologies or 2 to 3 years’ experience working as part of a project team
  • Experience in the process of developing and implementing new services and systems
  • Good experience working in an ITO environment and ITIL v3 foundation would be advantageous
Key abilities required:
  • Very good analytical skills with the ability to convert business requirements into operational deliverables (functional requirements) to meet business objectives.
  • Communication skills: written and verbal with good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent documentation skills, in particular, functional requirements, test cases, system user documentation, processes and procedures and presentations
  • High level of initiative, accountability, attention to detail and ability to follow processes
  • Self-motivated, ability to work unsupervised as well as being able to work as part of a team in a global and sometimes pressured environment
  • Ability to learn new solutions, services and technologies through self-study (on the job and externally)
  • Proactive, flexible attitude to work with a willingness to constantly review and improve skills
  • Must be able and willing to travel locally and internationally, dependant on operational and project requirements
