Job Description

Our Chicago office is looking for a Trader in the Public Real Estate Securities group.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Trade (primarily North American, but also globally) listed real estate securities. Trade spot/forward FX and derivatives.
  • Closely follow and comprehend market activity, proactively providing portfolio managers/analysts with information (color) about coverage universe, investor sentiment, and trading environment (volume, volatility, etc.).
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize execution strategies with the goal of obtaining best execution - maximizing trading alpha while minimizing risk.
  • Partner with global trading team for the purpose of strengthening brand.
  • Collaborate with the portfolio management team to budget and allocate commissions, working within the designated brokerage framework.
  • Effectively interact and communicate with members of operations, insuring proper allocation and booking of trades.
  • Adhere to established (best practice) procedures, and gather and maintain brokerage and trading restrictions/limitations to ensure Desk activities conform to guidelines for compliance.
  • Discuss purpose, responsibilities, and activities of Desk with current and prospective clients.

Qualifications

We are seeking an individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or similar field of study.
  • Masters level courses, SFC, FINRA licenses or similar training preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience trading global equities
  • Prefer individual with experience trading FX (spot/forward) and derivatives (options/swaps)
  • Current knowledge of regulatory and industry issues, country specific rules and procedures, as well as prospective changes in market structure.
  • Preferred skills in the following programs: Order Management Systems (OMS’s including Eze Castle & EMSX), F/X Connect, Bloomberg, and Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) software
