Job Description

Heitman is currently seeking a Senior Internal Auditor for our Chicago office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct assigned audit engagements successfully from beginning to end
  • Develop audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives
  • Obtain and review evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well documented
  • Identify risks, internal controls and control gaps
  • Identify and communicate issues raised and offer recommended solutions relevant to business and risk
  • Observe and understand business processes ensuring processes are documented completely and accurately
  • Prepare well documented audit working papers
  • Ensure audit conclusions are based on complete understanding of the process, circumstances and risk
  • Draft audit reports
  • Proactively research and understand laws, regulations and best practices
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all levels of employees, including senior management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in auditing
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor preferred
  • Working knowledge of the securities industry and/or experience in highly regulated industries preferred
  • Strong organization and follow up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Approximately 10% domestic and international travel required
