One more thing: you need to be a first-rate writer who can capture the essence of Magic: The Gathering in just a few words.

Think of yourself as the Guardian of Fun!

Here's what you'll be doing:
  • Design, balance and integrate new card sets and Planeswalkers:

    • Design around 800 cards and 10-15 Planeswalkers per year.

    • Write and revise card descriptions.

    • Regularly re-balance card sets to ensure overall game balance.
  • Design, balance and integrate new Events and Challenges (modes):

    • Create PvE and PvP events.

    • Write and revise event descriptions (lore, rules, tips).

    • Regularly re-balance difficulty and rewards.

    • Schedule events and use analytics to improve engagement.
  • Work closely with:

    • The System designer, the economic designer and the product manager to improve revenues.

    • Producer, tech lead and the QA team to optimize content development.
  • Communicate with Wizards of the Coast (the licensor) to ensure that content meets the brand's stringent requirements and high standards.

  • Help the Community Manager keep fan satisfaction high:

    • Communicate designs and changelogs.

    • Answer fan questions.

    • Post to official forums and platforms.

Qualifications

And here are the qualifications we're looking for:

  • 3+ years' experience as a game designer in the games industry.

  • Good knowledge of the social games market, including mobile and social platforms.

  • General knowledge of game development (Art, Programming, QA, Level Design, etc.).
