Job Description

Hypenica, an independent B2B media company with a global network and active in rapidly developing sectors, is looking for a Senior conference producer / Portfolio manager to join their highly successful Cape Town team.

 The portfolio comprises established and new events for the African and South African construction sector. We are looking for someone with a few years’ experience within conference production.  To take on this challenge you must have demonstrable experience from idea generation to producing the whole conference through to fruition.  You must be commercially minded, driven, highly ambitious and be able to meet with customers and stakeholders of all levels, face to face and engage with them telephonically and develop strategic partnerships.

 Key responsibilities:

 Management

  • Identify new event ideas together with additional revenue streams
  • Lead and develop relationships with key market players across the entire value chain
  • Manage the unit and event specific P&L’s, setting budgets, scheduling and resourcing in tandem with the Managing Director
  • Accurately forecasts and maximises revenues across the portfolio

 

Production

  • Understand the key internal market drivers to develop the content of all divisional conference programmes, ensuring each event is content driven timely and focused
  • Plan and monitor research and conduct speaker acquisition for events
  • Produce coherent brand strategy for events/products to maintain and increase relevance to market
  • Generate topics, validate ideas and launch new events

 

Sponsorship and delegate sales

  • Ensures that buy-side and sell-side audiences are thoroughly profiled and categorised by production, and holds sales accountable for the effective coverage of all categories
  • Ensures that all events in the business unit have high quality value propositions, sales plans, sales briefs, and effective launch meetings
  • Ensures the pipeline tool and pipeline meetings are used effectively within the business unit to drive accurate forecasting and maximise revenue performance
  • Sets targets for sales campaigns and monitors activity and revenue milestones to their achievement

 

Marketing

  • Working closely with the Marketing department to ensure effective marketing of events.
  • Ensures team has effective data strategy to meet objectives
  • Providing clear briefs and ensuring campaigns are on schedule and cost effective.
  • From market research, supervise copy for all promotional literature including the conference programme, website homepage and all electronic promotional campaigns. 
  • Identify new routes to market to develop brand extension

 

Project management

  • Lead the conference on onsite, dealing with sponsors, speakers and delegates alike to ensure strong and successful delivery of the event.
  • Oversee post conference reports, and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification a must
  • Strong project management, planning and organisational skills
  • Extensive client networking and relationship building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and management skills
  • Able to provide clear and effective communication of ideas, processes and targets
  • Excellent negotiation and financial management skills
