Job Description

IBI Group’s Fort McMurray, AB office is looking to hire CMT Coordinators (Construction Management Team) to assist in a rebuild project.

The wildfire in May of 2016 destroyed approximately 1,595 buildings and structures in several neighborhoods. The rebuild objectives include zero rebuild-related accidents, promotion of safety education and compliance, coordinate and facilitate construction activities to minimize congestion, protect public infrastructure, and ensuring safe access to schools and play areas.


Responsibilities:

  • Support safe workplace construction and safe neighborhoods during the rebuild. 
  • Recognize hazardous situations and arrange to have them corrected.
  • Enable education in the Safety Codes Act, Alberta Building Code, RMWB Land Use Bylaw, noise bylaw, etc.
  • Communicate with builders and coordinate with builders in each neighborhood to maximize efficiencies and minimize delays and congestion.
  • Encourage clean and safe work places.
  • Attempt to resolve issues through communication and education. 
  • Use enforcement agencies available through RMWB and the province as a last resort.
  • Maintain safe access to school zones and play areas.
  • Encourage cooperation between builders, property owners and the general public to minimize conflicts.
  • Track all activities including all inquiries, all meetings, daily inspections, interactions with RMWB, on a daily log sheet.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of the Safety Codes Act, the Alberta Building Code, and OH&S.
  • Project Management Certification would be an asset.
  • WHMIS
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Advanced education from a recognized technical school or university in engineering would be an asset.
  • Be customer driven and have a positive attitude.
