Job Description

IBI Group is working with a client in the Wisconsin area to develop and deploy a new Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) in Milwaukee. As a part of this project, IBI Group is establishing a new staff position which will be part of the solutions and systems team under the Intelligence Sector. They will provide on-site support to ATMS users, and function as a key point of contact with IBI’s client. This individual will be a full-time employee of IBI Group and report to the Project Director. This position requires a high degree of initiative, a focus on client care, technical aptitude, and independence.

ATMS solutions are at the heart of tremendous technical change in intelligent transportation solutions. Emerging technologies including connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles, access to unprecedented datasets and analytics, and the role private industry (vehicle OEMs, Waze, Apple, HERE) now plays in mobility collectively are redefining how people travel. The ATMS is the nexus that will turn these independent advancements into a system of mobility. The role of the ITS Engineer will be a member of the solutions group with an ATMS solutions focus. In this role, you will be a key member of the solutions team with a focus on intelligent transportation systems (ITS), network operations and traffic data. With the latest deployment of the ATMS in the United States, you will be assisting the solutions team evolve the ATMS to take advantage of evolving technologies to bring improvements and efficiencies to our traffic management system clients.

Duties may include:

· Participation in ATMS design, development, documentation, and/or testing.

· ATMS user support, project management, user training and system administration

· Identify ways to improve safety, mobility, and sustainability of the surface transportation system through the use of the ATMS and other technologies

· Analytics and report development to monitor and improve operations performance

· Conducts the day-to-day support of the TMC staff and resources including problem resolution concerning TMC operations.

· Maintains close communication and coordination with and Project Manager, other Traffic Operations Managers and ITS Engineers/Technicians

· Participates in periodic Traffic Incident Management (TIM) meetings, Critical Incident Reviews and other TIM activities and ensure appropriate interagency coordination.

· Ensures full staff coverage of TMC operations as prescribed in a client contract.

· Support other new business Initiatives

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:
• This position requires two (2) to eight (8) years of ITS experience. In addition, ITS experience in a control room environment will be a bonus.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Engineering with a focus on Transportation and Transit
• Understanding of Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) applications
• Demonstrated knowledge of general ITS and traffic operations principles, including traffic incident management.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership and relationship building.
• Ability and willingness to work alternate work schedules.
• Skilled in report writing, technical writing, management team presentations, spreadsheet analysis, and interoffice communication
• Ability to coordinate real time activities and initiate immediate priorities, for self and support staff
• Familiarity with the software development process
• Experience working with/ providing user-support of computer hardware and software system
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to travel to other Canadian and US offices
