Position Summary


The Project Coordinator position is an entry-level position likely suitable for a university undergraduate or a graduate of a technical diploma program with a focus in the construction field.  The position provides assistance to senior staff (Project Managers, Construction Managers & Operational Managers) through the coordination and collection of data relevant to; scheduling, quantity surveying, reporting and quality control functions. Duties are typically carried out in the field or directly on the project. However, while in a branch office the project coordinator will work under the direction of the estimating department and will assist in the preparation on new project estimates.


Responsibilities


Support the project and Project Managers:


  • Assist in project estimates, change order estimates and project closeout reviews.

  • Assist in material procurement and expediting.

  • Liaise with owner, EPCM, consultant, subtrades and the public.

  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project schedule, manpower schedule ,and quantity schedule.

  • Assist with the preparation and tracking of payment requests, invoices and estimates.

  • Assist with the setup, issuance of documentation, pricing and change administration.

  • Collect and compile project progress data on a daily basis

    • Defines the subcontract scope of work, answers inquiries (RFI's), creates COR’s and monitors progress

    • Monitors and assists with the implementation of quality control program

    • Monitor and track equipment and resources inventory

    • Involved in the project closeout activities by coordinating documentation including deficiencies, warranties, maintenance and final payments

Knowledge


  • Understanding of the Oil and Gas mechanical construction industry

  • Read & understand construction documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, subcontracts

  • Understanding of Estimating & Project Management theories, methodologies and industry practices

  • Familiar with CSA, ASME, CWB, and WCB standards and practices

  • Understanding of the corporate project management, operational and safety policies and procedures


Qualifications and Education


  • Post secondary degree in a construction related field, or graduate of technical diploma program, and / or

  • Combination of education and relevant experience


Experience


  • Entry level role to the Project Management / Operations Management career development path

  • Candidate must have demonstrated a desire to pursue a career on construction project management

  • Role typically provides 3 to 5 years of training in various phases of project administration, estimating and field administration.
