Job Description

Position Summary

IDEO.org is looking for a self-starting Communications Specialist to tell great stories, engage our community of designers, entrepreneurs, and social sector innovators, and help get out the word of how design is improving lives. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience growing and managing online communities, speaks social media as a mother tongue, and is an ace writer who can effectively communicate complicated concepts. You’ll provide support to both the Communications and Learning teams at IDEO.org, splitting your time between our efforts to tell the story of how human-centered design is changing the social sector and teaching the world to solve problems like a designer. 


Areas of Responsibility

Craft and post content updates to IDEO.org and DesignKit.org websites.

Develop and post engaging Social Media content for the IDEO.org community.

Support promotional activities to extend reach of IDEO.org activities.

Craft and submit awards submissions for IDEO.org work.

Proofing and editorial support to IDEO.org project teams.

Gather and craft weekly internal and external updates for light and deep reports.

Create and deliver IDEO.org newsletter.

Support partners’ communications needs.

Monitor Learning/Design Kit community on LinkedIn and IDEO.org websites.

Provide front-end and back-end “Customer Service” for Design Kit Field Guide customers and community members.

Coordinate and support for Learning consulting projects and workshops.

Provide communications support across IDEO.org teams.

Provide operations/admin support for Communications and Learning teams.


Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.

1-2 years experience in a communications role.

Demonstrated experience in social media.

Familiarity with human-centered design.

Customer service and community management experience.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
