Job Description

IDEO.org is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to work out of our New York City studio starting in Spring or Summer 2016. Interns will be working with the IDEO.org core team and project teams across a range of projects and mediums, from print design, presentation design, product interactions, and digital interaction design.

Prototyping and production skills are essential, as well as a passion for design and a point of view about your work. The ideal candidate has strong visualization and prototyping skills in addition to being comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams.

Areas of responsibility

  • Creating IDEO.org’s internal graphic design projects and initiatives
  • Supporting the development of IDEO.org’s digital presence online
  • Crafting and evolving IDEO.org’s visual identity
  • Supporting IDEO.org project teams
  • Bringing communications design expertise to the IDEO.org team
  • Inspiring teams through collaboration, as well as the direction, vision, and planning all aspects of visual deliverables
  • Initiating internal projects and creating systems for everyone to incorporate design into their work
  • Working on projects that spread across print, packaging, and brand identity to interactive projects for screens, devices, and space
  • Creating prototypes of different levels of fidelity to help determine design direction for a project qualifications

Qualifications

We seek a motivated individual who…

  • Is well-versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Has a strong portfolio and elevated sense of design, color, and typography
  • Has proficiency in web design and digital applications
  • Has experience and knowledge of interaction design, UX design a plus
  • Is currently enrolled in a professional degree program (preferred) or in an undergraduate program and is eligible to receive either academic credit and / or grant funding from your academic institution
  • Excels at research and possesses excellent communications skills
  • Is a team player who can adapt to social and professional situations
  • Is an independent self-starter; ability to multi-task in a highly energetic, fast-paced environment
