Job Description

We are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Network System Administrator to join our small and highly dedicated IT team. This role is responsible for managing the company’s network system infrastructure and is the escalation point for any related network system issues. The Network System Administrator also assists/backs up the IT team with general desktop and LAN-based application support as business requires. This person will report directly to the CTO/Director of IT and work with the Help Desk and Applications Support and Development staff. Must be a self-starter and eager to learn; an IT generalist root is preferred.

What you will do:

• Deploy and maintain Windows Server 2003/2008/2012. Manage Active Directory user accounts and GPO.

• Manage virtualization infrastructure running VMware.

• Manage Exchange 2010 environment along with spam filtering appliances.

• Manage network switches, AP, and gateway security appliance such as Cisco and SonicWall.

• Troubleshoot any network system issues methodically including DHCP, DNS, routing, NAT, and firewall issues.

• Work with system backup solution such as Backup Exec.

• Assist with helpdesk/LAN troubleshooting within Windows 7 environment.

• Monitor all systems and networks to ensure high availability. 

• Develop and maintain procedures and policies to address routine service and workflow.

• Document procedures and network layout. Provide training sessions to helpdesk support and non-technical staffs.

• Work closely with development/application teams to provide technical expertise on host solutions and support.

• Administer on-site network and equipment and our off-site hosted environment, VPNs, voice and data routing, 

• Administer and upgrade IIS, SQL Server, the Student Information System, ICE websites

• Review current system practices and recommend technology solutions that improve team efficiency. Troubleshoot both server and desktop hardware and software issues.

• Comply with information security best practices as appropriate and report possible violations immediately to his/her immediate supervisor.



Qualifications

Primary Skills: 

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2012. Experience with DHCP, DNS, file services, and print service.

• Excellent knowledge of Active Directory user management and GPO.

• Good knowledge of Exchange 2010 management.

• Good knowledge of VMware ESX or ESXi. VCenter experience a plus.

• Good knowledge of network management such as routing/switching, NAT, VLAN, and subnetting.

• Experience with WIFI configuration and AP setup.

• Good knowledge of storage technology such as RAID levels, NAS, and SAN. Experience with iSCSI a plus.

• Experience working with Dell PowerEdge servers, HP Proliant servers, and Cisco routers/switches.

• Network and system monitoring and troubleshooting.

Desirable Skills:

• Linux experience; comfortable working in command line and not GUI.

• Any scripting experience; PowerShell experience a plus.

• Any experience working with vendors and purchasing a plus.

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and IIS.

• Experience with Nagios a plus.


Additional Information

Relevant Work Experience:  

More than four years system administration experience with Windows based systems. Experience with authoring functional and technical documentation; conceptual and functional knowledge of Windows server management and proactive monitoring, backup systems, SQL and Exchange technologies. Proven record of excellent technical support. Possess the ability to translate user needs into actual IT solutions.
