Job Description

Within IKEA Communications, four new Communication Assignment Areas have been set up with the purpose to lead and develop, with an end-to-end accountability, state of the art communication to the lowest possible cost.

The Product Communication Assignment Area will as IKEA’s communication partner, lead and develop a clear communication offer for all IKEA trademark users and end-to-end accountability for all product communication assignments to make the product sellable, connected to IKEA communication plans. Product communication assignment includes but is not limited to product: pictures; films; stories/text; 3D models & conversion; assembly & advising instructions; law & warning; on-package design; in-store material; among others.

We’re now looking for a Product Communication Manager to lead and develop business and people together, managing all global communication assignments within the Product Communication area, leading to a positive impact of the business and strengthening the IKEA brand.

As Product Communication Manager you will…

  • Lead and develop a sustainable communication assignment agenda that delivers to IKEA Communications’ priorities and its long-term ambitions; co-creates and delivers to the ONE IKEA Communication Plan; and caters for both current and future demands.
  • Develop frameworks for managing communication assignment portfolios.
  • Scope new opportunities, partnerships, potential innovations, process integrations and/or digital transformations that create long-term value for IKEA Communications and further strengthens its value proposition towards our business stakeholders, partners and customers.
  • Meet the needs of today and tomorrow by leading the necessary transformational changes for the area to stay at the forefront of the costumer journey and consumer experiences through emerging new trends, technologies and communication methods.
  • Secure that decisions and insights for ideation, creation, production and delivery of communication are fact based, delivering better market relevant communication for the end-consumer, strengthening IKEA to reach many more of the many people.
  • Develop an up-to-date external network of existing partners and industry leading sources that can be brought in at any time to complement internal capabilities and/or competence needs.
  • Secure excellent cross-function collaboration and good relations with assignors, partners and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop managers and co-workers in order for them to deliver within their assignment as high performing individuals, securing the necessary short/long- term development, recruitment and succession plans in the Product Communication area.
  • Be a change driver for creating an ideas and feedback culture; together with the development of the IKEA Communications Business & People agenda; and in cross collaboration with assignors, internal areas and external partners.
  • Create pre-conditions for a healthy, trustful, inclusive, engaging and future-oriented learning environment that supports the co-worker’s continuous competence development, leadership capabilities and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Establish performance indicators that help drive the area’s strategic, creative and/or development goals, as well as provide insights that can contribute to the continuous development of high performing teams and competences.
  • Manage closely the budget and connected performance indicators to secure the delivery of assignments and business priorities within the agreed frames (quality, time, costs).
  • Challenge current ways of working and take lead in securing a continuous development and innovation of optimal communication methods, tools, processes and solutions.

Qualifications

Our Communication Assignment Area Managers are people who lead the business by translating vision, strategies and business direction into clear and actionable development plans. People who can lead in the unknown and in ever-changing conditions. People with the ability to identify, contextualise and capitalize on business opportunities and consumer trends to meet IKEA’s goals and the needs of consumers. People who can negotiate and influence others within a multi-layered organization, driving decisions and consensus. People that simplify complexity. People that can foster an innovative and idea-driven culture that enables co-workers to explore, share ideas and reinvent creative production.

You’ll need:

  • Extensive experience developing and implementing global communication and brand strategies for large businesses within the media or retail industries.
  • A deep understanding of the consumer journey, and how people around the world experience communication.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of today’s multi-channel landscape, as well as market and industry trends.
  • A basic understanding of the product development process.
  • Strategic knowledge of and a thorough grounding in creative concept development.
  • Experience managing a fiscally-sustainable business area and driving growth.
  • Experience managing, leading and developing managers.
  • Experience managing, leading and developing co-workers as part of high-performing teams.
  • Experience working within a multi-cultural, creative, and inclusive work environment.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
