IKEA Home smart was initiated as a project in 2012 with the ambition to enrich life at home by incorporating digital elements and technologies into products and solutions. Several launches within the smart home has followed since then and now IKEA has taken the strategic decision to invest even more in the home smart area by establishing IKEA Home smart as its own business unit within IKEA of Sweden.
 
By working together with all other departments within IKEA, the business unit of IKEA Home Smart will drive the digital transformation of the IKEA range, improving and transforming existing businesses and developing new businesses to bring more diverse smart products to the many people. Right now we are looking for a Product & Design Engineering Manager – software and systems leading the technical development of software and systems in the area of smart homes. Our business is about helping the many people making their homes come alive through smart products and digital solutions. About the assignment
As a Product & Design Engineering Manager, you will be responsible to secure planning, prioritization and execution of all projects in the development portfolio from the perspectives of range and product engineering focusing on software and digital technologies and solutions for the IKEA Home smart eco system and connectivity platform.

This is a senior leadership role within IKEA, and as a Product & Design Engineering Manager you will be a member of the Management team and deliver to the Business Plan and Business agenda. Your main focus will be on leading and securing a high level engineering development and innovation with the aim of efficient usage of resources and significantly increasing the customer experience in connection with function, quality, sustainability and low cost. Your main tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•    Lead the development of software and digital solutions making up the IKEA Home smart eco system and connectivity platform;
•    Lead, support and motivate the technical resources within IKEA Home smart;
•    Development of digital competence throughout IKEA;
•    Sponsor and support the IKEA Home smart business teams, and create the preconditions for them to excel in their daily work;
•    Collaboration with our franchisees to create services on both global and local level;
•    Leading by example to nourish and develop the unique IKEA Culture and values;
•    Drive, motivate and act as a role model for collaborating across IKEA and networking with relevant IKEA organisations.

Furthermore, with the support of the matrix, you will be contributing to the development of guidelines and common ways of working. You will be acting as an ambassador for IKEA and IKEA Home smart when meeting co-workers in different situations.
 

Qualifications

•    You have a deep business and technical development knowledge on a strategic and tactical level;
•    You are a humble leader with extensive experience from strategic development and international business;
•    You have deep knowledge in software development and development of digital solutions utilizing agile ways of working including tools and methods;
•    You have a strong will to influence and make a difference and you are passionate about leading and coaching people in a changing environment;
•    You are an excellent stakeholder manager and you are business minded with a simple and straightforward communication style which builds credibility and trust;
•    You are driven by the desire to develop range and business and you thrive in an environment which involves problem solving and finding new solutions and innovations;
•    Experience from the industry/market of Internet of Things and creating digital solutions and digital interfaces for consumer products;

Additional Information

As a Product & Design Engineering Manager you will report to the IKEA Home Smart Manager.

The position is located in Älmhult, Sweden. National as well as international travel up to 50 days a year may be required as part of the role. Älmhult has excellent commuting possibilities with hourly trains to Malmö, Lund and Växjö and an IKEA shuttle bus back and forth to Helsingborg three times a day.
