Job Description

Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America’s most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts presentations, seeks a Human Resources Specialist for our busy HR Department.   We have two core educational programs: Interlochen Arts Camp, serving 2,700 students in grades 3-12, and Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premiere fine arts boarding high school with an enrollment of 470-500. The HR Specialist - Employee Relations will report to the Employee Relations Manager.  This position will be responsible for the areas of new hire orientation, onboarding and benefits enrollment.

 

The HR Specialist-Employee Relations will provide support and assistance to the Employee Relations Manager in the area of employee relations for year round/academy and summer employees.  


  • Conducts new hire orientations and works with the employee relations manager to refine the onboarding process.  

  • Completes IT new hire request for with hiring manager

  • Enrolls employees into benefits programs and completes other HR data entry

  • Maintains employee handbook and works with Executive Director and Employee Relations Manager to update annually or as applicable laws change.

  • Updates all internal and external forms and presentations as necessary

  • Trains new employees in ADP, resets passwords and updates employee change requests

  • Assists employee relations manager with benefits enrollment

  • Assists employee relations manager with annual performance review process checking for completion of reviews and sending reminders to hiring managers

  • Works with Executive Director and Employee Relations Manager to plan employee events that relate to recognition, health and wellness and employee retention.  

  • Manages all employee files and associated documents

  • Completes termination forms and IT termination request

  • Works with Employee Relations Manager to onboard summer employees

  • Participates in summer camp check-in and check out

  • Maintains camp employee files

  • Assists with the preparation of performance review forms for summer and year-round academy.

  • Works with Office Assistant and HR Specialist

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associates Degree preferably in Human Resources, Business or Management.

  • Experience as an Intern in an HR Department is a PLUS

  • Knowledge of MAC Operating System and Google Docs, Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Superior verbal/written and presentation skills

  • Exceptional Customer Service Skills
