Job Description

Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America’s most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts presentations, has an opening for an Academic and College Counseling Assistant.   We have two core educational programs: Interlochen Arts Camp, serving 2,700 students in grades 3-12, and Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premiere fine arts boarding high school with an enrollment of 470-500.

Interlochen Center for the Arts (ICA) is currently seeking a Visual Arts Administrative Assistant to provide support to the Division Director and Visual Art Department. Duties will include: administrative functions, budget and project based work as well as helping to maintain the gallery during events and exhibitions.

    • Administrative Functions: Perform general clerical duties, manage travel and lodging arrangements for guest artists and faculty, coordinate shipping and receiving artwork, organize and schedule student field trips, manage budget, receipts, purchase orders and credit card purchases, research and manage purchase orders for department supplies and coordinate funding requests for visiting artists.

    • Gallery Functions: Ability to work occasional evenings to help with events and installation of exhibitions, prepare food for exhibitions, measure space and hang artworks, create labels, patch and paint walls/pedestals, coordinate with faculty/students on promotional materials for exhibitions and lectures, work with designated students to help maintain and organize the Visual Art Archive.


    Candidate should possess the following:

    • Professional verbal and written communication skills

    • Experience in using Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite 6

    • Ability to pay careful attention to detail

    • Ability to take initiative and work well with others

    • Interest in and respect for artists and artworks

    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs for movement of pedestals

    • Ability to use tools and stepladders.

    • Gallery experience preferred.
